In June 1993 Altech Limited signed an exclusive distribution agreement for Southern Africa with French technology group Schlumberger.
Received first terminal order from Absa which brought about the formation of Altech Smart Card Technologies.
ANP got involved in providing implementation services to Absa in preparation for the year 2000.
The transaction was based on the debit card switch and was developed to conform to all banking regulations and practices. Initially the system only operated on Absa cardholders and the first successful NuPay transaction was processed on an Absa account on 14 November 1999.
Altech Smartcard Technologies appointed as Datacard International’s Southern Africa distributor. Datacard is the leading US based company providing card personalisation solutions.
Acquired Africard from Shave and Gibson, Africard being a Visa/MasterCard certified card personalisation and manufacturing facility.
Terminals; personalisation and card manufacturing facility, as well as Datacard’s personalisation businesses’ put under one umbrella to form Altech Card Solutions.
Became a terminal supplier to FNB.
Acquired the Postilion switch from AST
In April 2003 Standard Bank joined the NuPay system and the first successful transaction on a Standard Bank account was processed on 15 April 2004.
ACS acquires Cardtronnic, a non-secure card manufacturing and personalisation facility.
Supplier of terminals to Nedbank for integrated solutions.
Our NuPay Classic product was storming the market with the force of a hurricane and new clients joined the NuPay family almost daily. NuPay had a staff compliment of 46 and we were growing monthly.
ACS’ Card manufacturing business sold to Labat Limited. Card personalisation business transferred over to Altech Namitech.
ANP instrumental in the design of the EDO payment stream which is based on the NuPay Classic transaction.
NuPay NAEDO was introduced in 2007 to bolster our debit order offerings.
ACS was awarded exclusive distributor status by Thales UK for the provision of Cryptographic solutions.
Became an Integrated Service Provider to the McDonald’s chain.
NuPay went live with their first Point of Sale (POS) transaction. During this period, Absa became part of the Barclays Bank group. According to their company policy, none of their subsidiary companies were allowed to have a minority share in a private company.
After extensive negotiations Allied Technologies Limited (Altech) announced on the 4th of June 2009 the purchase of 50% (the buyout of Absa), plus 1 share in NuPayment Solutions (Pty) Limited. Altech NuPay had now grown to a staff compliment of just over 100.
Altech NuPay headed into a period of innovation releasing products such as NuPay NuCard.
ACS became the preferred terminal supplier for Capitec Bank.
Selected as the partner in conjunction with Datacard to provide the in branch issuance machine. At the time the 1800 machines installed at Capitec was the largest installation in the world.
In conjunction with a local integrations solutions provider won the contract to provide Datacard equipment for the Voter Registration cards in Guinea Bissau.
Awarded tender by Government Printing Works to provide Datacard equipment for the local SA identification card project.
Altech acquired the Itas share in Altech NuPay. Altech NuPay was now an Altech owned company.
Preferred technical service provider for authenticated collections for Absa, SBSA and Finbond Mutual Bank
Delter was acquired by Altron in 2015 and fully integrated into the divisions’ product offerings.
Altron Fintech goes live with DebiCheck. Still based on the original NuPay classic transaction, DebiCheck goes live in November in the payment environment space.
